Hate the Constant Change of Marketing?

Here are 4 Fundamentals that will not change and have staying power

Marketing, it’s a constant challenge and often changing necessary component to any successful business, at any level of business.

Here are 4 fundamental elements that will not change, because their importance will remain.

The promotion of yourself and your company is something every entrepreneur and business owner needs to do, even if they don’t consider themselves to be good at it. In fact, you may often resist.

Yeah, Yeah, you’ve heard a lot about this already, especially when just starting a business, but that is not the only time that this is important.

Any time you’re looking to expand the business, or the offerings within that company, you’ll need to have Marketing front and center. When you are promoting or advancing any of your executives, you’ll want to consider any opportunities for Marketing. Any important opportunities to share the ways your business is growing will contribute to why someone would want to do business with you .

We resist. It. I know I did in the beginning. it was uncomfortable to promote myself and talk about what I was doing or thinking of doing. Even from a place of success and how well I was doing.

Now, with Social Media, Artificial Intelligence and an endless, limitless pool of content readily available, we need to do it. We need to be able to do it differently now, because some of what you’ve done before may not be working anymore.

Even since Covid, much of the way we’d done marketing had changed, it needed to pivot. It has evolved and now things like Branding are ever more important, for every business.

For me, it’s fun. Always something to learn. To do to work on and to collaborate on. I’m actually loving it.

And You Can Too.

I’d like to know. Do you create a marketing plan or do you prefer to do it as you go?

Do you use ads or do you prefer to just post videos or content?

Things to think about.

There are fundamentals of Marketing that still apply and will continue to, that I’ve seen over my 25+ years’ experience doing it and watching others do it,  while helping business owners market themselves and their businesses.

What services do you provide? I know this seems obvious, but there are business owners and executives too who do business without truly knowing the full answer to this.

Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been in business for years, it’s common for them to not fully know what they provide for people or other companies. The true and full services you offer or could offer.

People are quick to sell themselves short. Don’t.

What benefits do you provide for your clients? This is more important than the previous one, and another area often dismissed and sold short by the company leaders.

Remember being taught not to boast? Remember being taught not to brag about yourself?

You’ll tend to dismiss the very reasons why prospects will want to work with you.

I was helping business owners to double or even triple their income, in 30 days or less, long before I stated it to others, including in networking and my marketing.

I happened to say it in passing as a success I’d been having to a business partner, who stopped me and asked me to repeat what I’d just said. When I did so, and confirmed that I had been doing it, she was emphatic that I say it, and tell people, prospective clients especially that this is what I do.

I listened.

Which leads me to the next fundamental element for marketing that won’t change.

You have to let people know the benefits of working with you! It’s important to share the ways that others will benefit from working with you or from your product. It can actually be fun and exciting too.

It might feel good to keep these points to yourself, where you can guard them and keep them. However, doing so is NOT the best way to grow or establish the business.

So you’ll downplay what it is that you do, and what the benefits of your work are because of it.

If you were taught not to brag about yourself, you won’t want to share that with others, you’ll have the operating belief that its not a good idea.

Recognize your expertise. This is one of  my favorite ideas for inspiring business owners. Once you do this, add it to the ways you promote who you are and what your business is. In places like your email signature too, a simple spot and often overlooked one. Use this in your marketing where it would be appropriate.

Think about any areas in which you have excellent expertise or knowledge. I bet there are areas that you have vast knowledge of over others in your industry.

You may diminish them or consider them to be insignificant, they are not. It can be the very thing that gets the attention of a new client or a prospective partner.

Being an expert can be far more valuable than years of service or experience. So use it and go ahead and boast!
