What are You Feeding Your Mind? The Importance of Nourishing Both Body and Mind

You probably take great care in choosing what goes into your body—whether it’s healthy, organic, or keto. But what about what you feed your mind?

Have you ever given much consideration to the nutrition you give your mind?

Just as junk food can negatively impact your health, negative or fear-inducing media can affect your mental and emotional well-being. Constant exposure to distressing news or even endless medication commercials can skew your outlook on life.

This is much like how a diet of unhealthy food can impact your body, which we already know!

On the other hand, nourishing your mind with positive, uplifting content can boost your energy, motivation, and overall mindset, which in turn affects every area of your life!

For example, I recently had a conversation with a client whose pessimistic outlook on her business was directly influenced by the negative news she consumed daily.  Once she stepped away from those sources, she began to see the opportunities around her, and her results improved significantly.

Consider this: Are you feeding your mind with negativity, or are you seeking out positivity? Do you engage with content that uplifts and inspires you? This could be anything from motivational books to spiritual practices or even simple acts of self-care.

Another client of mine found that focusing on positive thinking and spiritual connection transformed her mood and results. Healthy mind nutrition. Having a more positive and uplifting view can give you energy, reduce stress and anxiety, enhance self-confidence, and allow you to live an overall healthier life.

Here are some additional tips for giving your mind the nourishment it needs:

1.       Carefully select the content you consume by limiting negative information and media sources you subscribe to. Switch to ones that are more uplifting and focus on possibility rather than fear.

2.       Practice mindfulness by taking short break if necessary, to bring you back to the present moment with meditation, a short walk or journaling acts of gratitude.

3.       Keep learning new things by developing a skill, practicing new talents, learning a new language, trying a new hobby, or joining a new club. And, consider new ways to apply what you love to your work.

4. Continue to grow by challenging yourself to approach new things and experiences with joy rather than fear. A mentor or coach can help here as they can see things from an outside, expert perspective that encourages us to continue to grow and develop.

What we consume mentally can be just as impactful as what we eat, if not more so! It’s important to pay attention to what you feed your mind as well as your body.

So, ask yourself: What are you feeding your mind? Make sure it’s as healthy and nourishing as the food you choose for your body.
