Are You Being Your Authentic Self?

Do you really know what it means to be your Authentic Self?

Being your Authentic Self is being true to what you want and ultimately to the work you came here to do. So many people are not even aware of what that is; others think they know and cannot understand why they’re so frustrated and uninspired.

At the root of this is that sometimes you pay more attention to what others want for your life rather than what you want. This unique idea is often foreign to people, so it throws them off.

You work and go about life on a day-to-day basis. Without realizing it, you end up reacting to what comes up or “crosses your path,” rather than being deliberate and creative. Given the prevalence of computers, internet, and social media, it’s easy to get caught up in this and not know it.

Being more of your Authentic Self means knowing what you want and approaching it deliberately. So YOU create what that looks like for you.

Otherwise, you’re likely to end up following someone else’s ideas or rules. If you’re paying more attention to the ideas and demands of others, you’re in this trap. You’ll end up in a place you didn’t anticipate. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Being able to be yourself, doing what’s important to you without worrying about what other people think or say behind your back, is comforting and supportive. It allows us to focus on our own priorities.

Everyone has a purpose and a vision for their life! The question is whether they’re aware of it or not. This is what I mean by are you being your Authentic Self, who you truly are? Or are you being someone else’s idea of who that is? Are you doing what you want, or are you stuck in the pattern of what someone else wants or thinks you should want?

This can be difficult, if not impossible, to see on your own. Your results will show it — as well as the clarity you need — in every area of your life.

Being your Authentic Self, rather than the version of you formed and influenced by someone else, is where the greatest joy lies, the ease and grace that can be had.

Otherwise, you’re living a life for someone else! That’s right! Making decisions based on what someone else wants for you is living according to them. Whether it’s your parents, siblings, teachers, and at times society itself. You may not be using your natural talents and gifts, which is how ease and flow come into your work.

If you want to be your Authentic Self, it’s critical to break away from this thinking and path. And at the same time, it’s very difficult. It doesn’t have to be!
